Well, it started with a BMW F800GS in 2013 that is a fantastic bike on tarmac and gravel roads. The bike is comfortable and reliable. I have used it for travelling round Eastern Europe, Scandinavia and use it for commuting or travelling within Europe. I still love it. When it comes to more demanding trails, sand and technical stuff… it is a heavy “tank”. You can compensate a lot with skills, but I am an average driver (noob in many things) who wants to explore remote tracks and areas in the world. After a short time it was clear that I needed something “lighter” and a little bit more off-road orientated. The market for “dual sport” or “adventure” bikes have been going in the opposite direction and most bikes become heavier and technically more sophisticated every year. I realised that there is no “off-the-shelf-solution” fitting my needs and that I need to find something suitable I can customise/adventurise. This brought me to the KTM 690…
